We have reach beyond 1 week mark today with 73k signed the petition and at this moment the momentum rate is at 1000 signed every day.
Coming back to why abolishing vernacular school is the doing more benefits that harm to the nation. I'll share you a vision and how Malaysian has been forgetting the vernacular school of thought without us noticing it.
First the vision. Abolishing vernacular school is not just to kill the social divide that we see today, but to push the country forward as one nation, one language and one Malaysian. Why do I say that?
Imagine (taking one school for example). SRKJ(C) Yoke Min, we understand it is a government aided school, instead of government funded school because of the medium used are chinese language (mandarin). Now, imagine SRKJ(C) Yoke Min converted into SRK Yoke Min where the medium becomes Bahasa Malaysia with the competency in Chinese Language.
Most schools in Malaysia have their own competency, some school have competency in sports like football, hockey and so on. Some school have competencies in their orchestra or cultural curriculum. So we include language as competency.
Since all SRKJ accepts multi-racial entry, those policy can still continue, and since we initially looking at SRK only, enrollment rate may increases since it is now rated as Sekolah Kebangsaan, meaning open for all and not limited to races anymore.
In terms of school curriculum and syllabus, Ministry do have their experts on creating new curriculum for this new school model. Now we will have Malay, Chinese and Indian going to school, mix and play together at the beginning of their school age.
Thus, we seeds the new dawn of racial tolerance at the early age. Understanding each language, each culture and each races, cultivated. School budget can now be distributed evenly and parents from various races can mingle together during Parent Teacher Association Meetings. We can do more things when we are together.
In 20 years time we would see, a awesome tolerance between races. May be all races can sit together watching World Cup where all races are represented in the Harimau Malaya team playing in World Cup, for the first time.
Can we do it? Yes, we already did.
Look at Setapak High School, Penang Free School, King George V School, St. Micheal Institutions, Convent Bukit Nenas School, King Edward School and Victoria Institution... to name a few... these schools had, for more than few decades implementing multi-racial integration where Malay, Chinese and Indian were in one school, played together and studied together. Look at their bonding today and their understanding to each other.
Thus, it is not impossible to implement such model because it has been practise for decades.
Lets move to hockey.
Why hockey? Let put some legendary names here and these names are familiar to non-hockey and hockey fans.
Kuhan Shanmuganathan (Indian)
Chua Boon Huat (Chinese)
Mirnawan Nawawi (Malay)
These names are legendary in world of hockey, we produced world class players, and today Malaysia Hockey ranks number 13 in the world.
Why? because, the combine multi racial team playing as brothers. In 1975 Malaysia ranked 4th in the World Cup and in 2018 they ranked 15th. They are in the World Cup since 1973. That's what happen when all races are together. We have a living proof, that it can happens and already happened.
Now, imagine when the nation, as one, using the same language, going to the same (single) school systems without leaving the mother tongue existence of each races. We won't have issue of company only looking to chinese speaking or tamil speaking candidate. Our racial toleration will be better than today.
Due to single school systems, we will together and not social divide and it extended to the workforce.
That's the reason why we need to abolish the vernacular school to cultivate better understanding of each races, so we can have high tolerance like we use to have in 1970s and 1980s. We have done it before and we can do it again.
We are together today, but it is not enough to push us forward. We need to improve it and it should starts with our children.
All we need is one school systems, abolish vernacular school for better future.... Keep the petition signed and let the Ministers and Prime Ministers aware about this and get them to sit down in a cabinet meeting and bring it to parliament.
