Small but significant success We are happy to inform that with CERC’s persuasion, Amazon has agreed to send genuine Lakme Eyeconic Kajal free of cost to all the 340 customers of its vendor Sublime and not wait for consumers to complain. HUL will supply the product to Amazon free of cost. They decided to do this as a ‘goodwill gesture’. CERC has however insisted that this should not only go as a ‘goodwill gesture’ but should be accompanied by an advisory to consumers to stop using the earlier purchased product and destroy it. Petition by CERC CERC started a petition on Change.org to generate support from the public and urge Amazon to stop selling fake and counterfeit products and have a product recall policy. The petition urged MoCA to take steps to ensure sale of safe and genuine products online. Fraud on Amazon All this began when we found a fake Lakme Eyeconic Kajal Pack of 2 being sold on Amazon in March 2017. The manufacturer Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (HUL) as well as Amazon Seller-Sublime admitted that the product it has sold/sent is fake. A total of 340 customers purchased Lakme Eyeconic Kajal from Amazon seller Sublime. Amazon had refunded money to only 7 customers who complained. The Lakme Eyeconic Kajal, bought from Amazon seller Sublime by these 340 customers could be fake.
