Construir Albergue Perros Desamparados en Sto. Dgo. D.R. - Build Shelter for Dogs
The Issue

Lola's Pack is a Non-Profit Organization with the Mission to Create Shelters that Provide Medical Care, Regulate Overpopulation &Train Homeless Dogs in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic with the Final Objective of Finding Adoptive Families for the Little Furry Ones.
Two basic factors are responsible for the uncontrolled growth of the population of dogs in our country.
First are the poor and middle class families who buy a dog as a pet, regardless of what it entails, have an animal of this kind; food, veterinary checkups and place to be. After a while they realize the responsibilities of having to man's best friend, both in food and stay, choose to throw it in the street because there is not an organization by the state where they can shelter these animals, even do the Law says It Should be.
The second factor affecting the proliferation of stray dogs, is because there is no control of reproduction, either by spaying or vaccination of the female (gestation in hard bitches from 57 to 63 days and they can give birth to puppies 3-9) from the health authorities. If we add hundreds of bitches giving birth a year, we would accounts of the problems we face.
Help Us in Making The Society and it's Contributors Aware of the Law 248-12, Who Protect Those Can't Protect Themselves.
Our Main Objective is to get subsidized by the Health Department and City Mayor Office of Santo Domingo, D.R. to Build a Shelter with enough capacity to provide these animals with the foster home and medical care they need.
In 2006 there were reported more than 90,000 homeless dogs in the City, and more than 16,000 human rabies cases. This is not only animal cruelty in a big scale, but also a sanitary problem for the society.
The Law 248-12 has been active since 2002, and it makes responsible institutions like the Health Department and The Mayor Office to create and subsidized shelters in each District of the country. This Law hasn't still being implemented till this day. That's a shame.
The Old Mayor in charge, Roberto Salcedo, gave the first step in March of this year, but two weeks later the community and other groups protested against it. They said the project will bring contamination to the residential area.
Please Help us With your Signature make this project come true.
Thousands of Homeless Dogs are waiting for Us to take the First Step they cannot take themselves.
Help us to create consciousness in our society for the "Respect of Life" that every Living Being it's entitled to, and Help us removed them from the unfair space they have in our society at the moment.
