Event announcement Based on my request, the municipality of Delta has decided to officially discuss in their general meeting, my suggestion about asking the Minister of Agriculture, Ms Lana Popham of the provincial government of British Columbia, to ban the use of glyphosate in local agriculture, despite the fact that its use is approved federally. The mayor has passed my letter to all council members and senior staff. The are to discuss it during their general meeting today, on Sept 18th, 2017. The debate will be live on TV and also video recorded as well as a paper trail kept. Whichever way the municipality decides, whether to write to Ms Lana Popham or not to, the fact that the issue is discussed and recorded, is considered to be a success from my end - in elevating the topic to general political discussion in our country, from the municipal level upwards. Aim is to encourage many other people to also get their municipality to discuss it, and hopefully start writing to the Minister of Agriculture, apart from supporting this petition. It is hoped that some of the municipalities, along with general public support, end up influencing our provincial government, either in BC or anywhere in Canada and USA, to start overriding the federal approval and ban the use of glyphosate in local agriculture, as well as in forestry and grasslands.
