Yet despite the clear demand, the Government used Friday’s debate in Parliament to say - once again - that they need yet another consultation before making a decision. What more evidence do they need? While we were thrilled to see almost unanimous support in the House of Commons for Tim Loughton MP’s Bill, the situation for 3.3 million cohabiting couples remains the same: no legal status or financial protection under the law – and further delay. So the fight for equal civil partnerships continues. We’ve been campaigning for four years. We’re onto our third equalities minister. We’ve had two court cases. And we’re still calling for equality.
