Dear Supporters,
We wanted you to be amongst the first to know that the judge will be handing down her ruling of our Judicial Review claim at the High Court tomorrow (Friday 29th January, 2016) at 10:00am.
We are unable to say anything further until then, but we will post a full update and reaction after the ruling. We will be interviewed live outside the court at around 10.30am by the BBC’s legal correspondent, Clive Coleman, and anticipate it will be broadcast on the Victoria Derbyshire Show (BBC2 and the BBC News Channel) and on Woman’s Hour on BBC Radio 4. Please tune in, if you can.
Also tomorrow, a Ten Minute Rule Bill (a type of Private Member’s Bill) calling for a minor amendment to the Civil Partnership Act to remove the clause limiting civil partnerships to same-sex couples has its second reading in the House of Commons. The bill has been proposed by former Children’s Minister, Tim Loughton MP, and is supported by MPs across the political spectrum, including Caroline Lucas, Andy Slaughter and Stephen Twigg, as well as lawyers, academics and over 36,000 supporters, who are calling on the government to extend civil partnerships to all couples.
Thank you again for your ongoing support,
Rebecca and Charles
