Wow - what an exciting and exhausting couple of days! Sitting in the High Court listening to our barrister put forward the case for equal civil partnerships, and then rushing off to talk to the press to highlight the issue as much as we could. The judge mentioned on several occasions how important she thinks the case is and that she will take the time needed to consider the arguments. She said that she’d endeavour to hand down her ruling within a week (though we anticipate it'll take longer). It's a nerve-wracking time for all of us trying to open civil partnerships to all, but we really hope we'll be able to share good news with you soon. Thank you so much for all of your lovely messages of support – and especially to the couple who came down from Liverpool to be with us in court and to listen to the proceedings. They and you have really kept us going. The Ten Minute Rule Bill proposing removal of the clause limiting civil partnerships to same-sex couples has its second reading on January 29, so it’s crucial your MPs know why this is important to you now.
