Petition updateRenaming Changi Airport "Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) International Airport"Petition to Singapore's Transport Minister: Renaming Changi Airport "LKY International Airport"

Remembering LKYSingapore, Singapore
Mar 25, 2015
Dear Minister Lui,
On behalf of the signatories, I petition to you and the Government of Singapore to rename Changi Airport “Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) International Airport”.
The past week of state mourning gave us more than a good glimpse of the immensely indelible contributions and sacrifices made by the late Mr Lee.
Not that he needs the recognition. There is also almost nothing that can be deemed enough to reflect what he has done for Singapore. And we are sure there is no shortage of ideas how to honour and remember Mr Lee.
When PM Lee Hsien Loong made his national address in the morning of 23 March 2015, he aptly said: ”But even as we mourn his passing, let us also honour his spirit. Let us dedicate ourselves as one people to build on his foundations, strive for his ideals, and keep Singapore exceptional and successful for many years to come."
By no accident, the success story of the Changi Airport we have today epitomizes the journey of the red dot – our beloved Singapore. Renaming the airport “Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) International Airport” will serve to remind all Singaporeans of the foundations laid to bear the successes we see today. We did not succeed by accident. Neither are we guaranteed of future success. We succeeded because the earlier generations were weaved together by the late Mr Lee’s leadership to achieve the ideals. We can only remain exceptional and successful if we continue to chase after ideals like we had before.
We hope that naming the airport after the late Mr Lee will help to serve as a constant reminder to present and future generations that the spirit of LKY lives on…..Now and Forever.
We hope the government will accede to our request.
Thank you.
Bests,
JH
