Petition updatePass automatic inquests for maternal deaths in IrelandSTILL NO DATE FOR INTRODUCING THE CORONERS (AMENDMENT) BILL 2017

The Elephant Collective
23 Jun 2017
We in the Elephant Collective want to send our heartfelt condolences to Alan Thawley.
The inquest about Malak Thawley’s tragic and entirely avoidable death reminds us yet again how vulnerable widowers are still having to fight for the truth to be heard about what happened in our maternity hospitals to rob them of their wives and life partners.
Alan Thawley's solicitor, Caoimhe Haughey, can be heard on the RTE radio interview below, speaking earlier today of her shock and dismay at the extensive failures of care which the inquest revealed and which led to Malak’s death.

THE GOVERNMENT'S SCHEDULE FOR NEXT WEEK HAS BEEN PUBLISHED
http://www.oireachtas.ie/viewdoc.asp?DocID=36521&&CatID=60
THERE IS STILL NO DATE ON THIS SCHEDLUE FOR INTRODUCING THE CORONERS (AMENDMENT) BILL 2017 WHICH WOULD ALLOW FOR MANDATORY INQUESTS.
THE GOVERNMENT HAS A PROMISE TO KEEP WHICH THEY HAVE MADE TO WIDOWERS AND THEIR GRIEVING FAMILIES TO MAKE THIS BILL A PRIORITY
WE CALL ON THE GOVERNMENT TO PUBLISH THE LEGISLATION AT ONCE AND SECURE A PLACE FOR ITS PASSAGE AS A MATTER OF DEEPEST URGENCY.
