The Party for Animal Welfare call on the Minister for Education, Norma Foley,
to immediately incorporate the subject of Animal Welfare to the National School curriculum.
 
We believe the rise in numbers of animal cruelty cases in the country is directly linked to the fact that there is an ignorance of the laws that protect all animals from abuse.
 
Furthermore, research has proven that children who engage in animal abuse are prone to violent crime as adults. Compassion towards animals is indeed a noble cause and one worth
pursuing with the utmost  vigour.
 
Introducing our young people to Animal Welfare therefore will benefit our society, as well as the less fortunate creatures with whom we share this land.
