No solution from Senator Fifield, further action still needed
May 23, 2016 — Firstly, thank you to everyone who has signed and shared this petition! Over 6,000 people have shown their support for Australian music and the amazing work that SOUNDS AUSTRALIA do.
Unfortunately SOUNDS AUSTRALIA is yet to find a funding solution or meet with Senator Fifield and will be unable to operate as they have been past December 2016 without a commitment from the Ministry.
I urge you to now contact your local MP and share your distress directly, and urge them to help find a funding solution for this critical service.
You can easily find contact details for your local MP on the Parliament website at http://bit.ly/1WFQa5c
Please CC firstname.lastname@example.org in your email.
It's important we write to our MP's in our own language and express how lack of continued funding will impact our local music industry and economy, but I've added some suggested copy below. Feel free to include your original petition comment as well.
I'll be delivering this petition to Senator Fifield this week, and a copy to the SOUNDS AUSTRALIA team.
I am writing to ask you to take action on the recent funding cuts to SOUNDS AUSTRALIA.

Since 2009, some key results include:
• 620 Australian artists supported, at 48 different international events in 52 cities across 19 countries.
• 1292 new performance opportunities
• 1593 business outcomes for Australian artists (signing record deals etc).
• 97 networking/B2B events and 158 unique showcase presentations
• 300% compound annual growth in individual earnings within three years of the first SOUNDS AUSTRALIA (and first international) appearance, for top tier artists.
Sounds Australia missed out on Catalyst funding, and without a funding solution will not be able to offer its full service past 2016.
