"A 30-year-old man from the Marinha Grande area, Portugal,  is being investigated for mistreatment and animal deaths. R. P. is accused by local animal welfare associations of impersonating sometimes veterinarian, sometimes canine trainer, to be able to adopt dogs that later always died. On social networks, where his image is being shared with subtitles like “sociopath” or “killer”, he shared videos of the dying animals or even after their deaths.

"We are facing a person who adopts animals, that 'die at his hands' (according to him) and, instead of seeking immediate help, he records and sends videos of them," reported on August 16 at PSP dos Marrazes, in Leiria, APAMG - Marinha Grande Animal Protection Association.

In the complaint, reported by Jornal de Leiria (JL), the association guarantees that the situation is of “extreme urgency”. Two videos, attached to the process and to which the newspaper had access, will prove this. According to JL, in one of the films the fake vet shows a dog in distress rather than assisting him and without apparently showing any sign of compassion; on the other, he shows another dog, apparently dead, turning him from side to side.

In addition to the videos, APAMG will have delivered to PSP, as evidence, records of various conversations held on social networks between R. P. and people who had dogs to adopt and volunteers from animal advocacy associations.

According to the newspaper, another animal cause volunteer, who also filed a complaint against the fake vet in July this year (for fraud, false identity and threat with a weapon), has even investigated on her own and contacted the mother, brother and ex-girlfriend of PR, the first with residence in Switzerland, the second to live in Germany.

It was the former companion who revealed that animal maltreatment would have been an old habit of that man, who would have, for that reason, even received specialized medical care while living in Germany, the JN News reported Tuesday. ), which confirmed to the Attorney General's Office the opening of an investigation against RP.

According to the animal cause volunteer, the ex-girlfriend allegedly surprised the man by injecting insulin into a dog, which survived only after being assisted by a vet, then filed a complaint against him in Berlin - and soon after the relationship ended.

According to JN, this could be R.P.'s modus operandi, who is accused of mistreating and killing an undetermined number of animals.
