Although landmine use in the recent decade has significantly reduced -  thanks to the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, the 1997 Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on their Destruction, and NGO's and activists - some countries still produce, use and support the use of landmines. This, even though the use of landmines has lasting repercussions on societies and their environments: civilians become victims of uncleared landmines, especially children, land is made unusable, and clearance and rehabilitation is a long and difficult process. Therefore, gaining more information about the mining industry, its main actors, its levels of productions, its clients, will be a step forward in making them accountable for accidental deaths around the world due to active mines that haven't been cleared.
