Ahora la lucha es para que la custodia de Júpiter sea oficialmente transferida a su mamá Ana Julia Torres de quien nunca debió ser apartado.

En este momento esta siendo estabilizado en un lugar de paso del Dagma en Cali pero su custodia aún está con ellos. ¡Pedimos que Júpiter vuelva a los cuidados de su mamá para que con amor su recuperación sea más rápida!

Por si no conocen la historia completa de este gran león, aquí se las contamos:

Júpiter nació por cesárea. Su madre era una leona que fue decomisada a un circo y falleció durante el parto. Fue entonces cuando Ana Julia Torres (una profesora y animalista que fundó el refugio Villa Lorena, en Cali, lo rescató y se convirtió en su madre de corazón.

Por 19 años, Júpiter vivió junto a su madre Ana en Villa Lorena donde se convirtió en un León sano de 250kg aproximadamente, hasta que el Departamento Administrativo de Gestión del Medio Ambiente (Dagma) decidió que Júpiter estaría mejor a mas de 700 Km de distancia de su mamá en donde, en menos de 1 año, fue reducido a un león moribundo y esquelético de 90kg aprox.

El instinto de madre llevó a Ana Julia de nuevo en busca de Júpiter para descubrir que estaba abandonado a su muerte en el lugar que, supuestamente estaría mejor. Y gracias a su amor de madre y determinación logró sacarlo de ese lugar con el apoyo de ustedes, la ciudadanía, y de las FAC.

Ahora Júpiter necesita de nuevo de nuestra voz, para que sea devuelto oficialmente a su madre y a su casa Villa Lorena.

The petition is to respectfully request for custody of Jupiter to be officially transferred to his human mother Ana Julia Torres from whom he should have never been removed in the first place.

At this time , Jupiter is being medically stabilized in a safe but transitional and temporary property that belongs to DAGMA in the city of Cali, Colombia.However, Jupiter still remains under DAGMA’s custody.

We are requesting that Jupiter be returned to the care of his human mother as soon as possible, so that she can shower him with the love,constant care and affection only she can provide him with and in order to ensure Jupiter’s recovery is successful and heals much faster!

Jupiter’s History

Jupiter was born by caesarean section almost 20 years ago. His mother was a lioness that was confiscated from a circus and died during childbirth. It was then that Ana Julia Torres (a local teacher and animal activist, advocate, rescuer and founder of the Villa Lorena Sanctuary, in Cali, Colombia) rescued him and became his human mother at heart.

For 19 years Jupiter lived with his mother Ana in Villa Lorena where he became a grew up to be a beautiful and very healthy adult lion weighing 250 Kg, until the Administrative Department of Environmental Management (DAGMA- Colombia) took possession of Jupiter ( April 2019) and decided that he would be better accommodated under their custody and took him more than 700 kilometers away from his mother!
In a period of less than 1 year Jupiter was reduced to a dying and skeletal lion of 90 Kg. He lost 2/3 of his healthy weight during this time.

Mother's instinct led Ana Julia again in search of Jupiter to discover very recently that he was helplessly abandoned to his death in the place that supposedly would be appropriate and better for him according to DAGMA . Thanks to Ana’s motherly love and determination she managed to get him out of that place with the support of local supporters and the FAC ( Colombian Air Force) .

Now Jupiter needs OUR voice again! He needs to be officially returned to his mother and to his home at Villa Lorena Sanctuary, where he belongs. He is about 20 years old and his only place at this age is by his mother. He needs the love care and companionship to live out his years by his human mother.
