Gov. Evers reissues mask order to protect Wisconsin after GOP legislators eliminate it

What a crazy week in the fight for masks to stop Covid-19 and improve public safety in Wisconsin.

On Thursday, the Wisconsin Assembly's GOP majority amazingly voted to eliminate Gov. Tony Evers’ statewide mask requirement — something that's common sense, easy to do and highly recommended by health experts and in place in most states.

Fortunately, later that day, Gov. Evers reissued his mask requirement, continuing the needed mandate that they be worn indoors in public places.

Isn’t Covid going away with the vaccines?

Not anytime soon. Experts say it’ll take months to get lots of people vaccinated. Meanwhile, a rapid increase in more-contagious variant strains is predicted to make spread, illness and death much worse. One expert said “the darkest days of the pandemic are yet to come.” Holy shit.

Yet with Covid fatigue continuing to grow, governments are going in the wrong direction, allowing more reopening. Yet experts says opening restaurants is exactly what the coronavirus wants us to do. 

Meanwhile, Wisconsin just passed 6,000 Covid deaths, with 1,000 deaths just the last month.

With all these challenges and dangers, do we really want GOP legislators to eliminate requirements to wear masks in public indoor places?

The fight for public safety isn’t over. Watch for the GOP to file more lawsuits and pass more legislation in favor of Covid, and not us.
