Keep Katee Rodrigues as a Special Education Teacher at Milpitas High School

The Issue

This December, Mrs. Katee Rodrigues was notified by the Milpitas Unified School District (MUSD) and the administration at Milpitas High School (MHS) that she will be unjustly removed from MHS Staff and transferred to a different school site against her will by January 2023.

Mrs. Rodrigues has been a special education teacher at MHS for about three years, but she has helped students at this school for many years prior. She has touched the lives of all her students and has helped them to achieve their educational goals.

Mrs. Rodrigues has been my RSP teacher for almost three years, from freshman to junior year. As a person with physical disabilities, my educational journey has not been easy. Mrs. Rodrigues has helped me get through many challenges at school. Not only does she advocate for my accommodations, but she also goes above and beyond by caring about my well-being. I see that Mrs. Rodrigues is always there for all of her students, as well as many others outside of her class. Her passion for teaching here and her love for us are incomparable. Each day, it is evident how much of an impact she makes on her students and how much joy she brings to them. She has helped to motivate us and inspire us to continue pursuing our education and our dreams.

If Mrs. Rodrigues is taken away from her students, many students with all types of disabilities will struggle in school. A new person will not understand our struggles the way that Mrs. Rodrigues does. This transfer would be a major shift in the lives of these students, which will cause immense drawbacks in our academics and education.

By signing this petition, you have the power to reverse this decision and keep Mrs. Rodrigues as a special education teacher at MHS. Not only will you help her, but you will also help countless other students in need in our school community.
