Unfortunately, the disparity between public and private schools continues to grow. Private schools won 39% of all the MHSAA championships in 2023 despite representing just 14% of all teams. That is the highest number since the year 2000 (the year our data goes back to). We appreciate everyone who has signed this petition. It has become clear though that the opinions of parents, coaches, fans, and players don't hold much weight with the MHSAA. The best chance to see a competitive balance plan implemented is to have your School Board adopt the Fair Playoffs Resolution. The Resolution essentially says "Hey MHSAA, give us the facts, and let us vote on whether we need a competitive balance plan or not." What could be wrong with holding such a vote?
