Hello, First of all, thanks for being one of the over 4,000 people to sign the Fair Playoffs Petition! Also, thanks to those of you who have shared the petition with your friends and family. The past year has been a good one for the Fair Playoffs movement. Most significantly, we had seven school boards pass our Fair Playoffs Resolution. We believe that the only way we are going to get the MHSAA to give member schools a chance to vote on implementing a competitive balance plan is to get a large number of these resolutions passed by school boards. Therefore, we are asking each one of you to contact your local school board and ask them to consider passing the resolution that can be found at www.fairplayoffs.com. There are many ways you could initiate this process. You could contact an individual school board member to begin the conversation or even speak out during the public comment portion of the school board meeting. It might also be beneficial to talk to your superintendent. You can find lots of supporting data on the website, but the most simple and powerful message is that private schools represent just 14% of all MHSAA member schools but win 30% of the state titles, more than twice as many as they statistically should. The resolution simply asks the MHSAA to allow for a vote on whether or not we need a competitive balance plan to remedy that. In order to continue to get out our message we recently began advertising. Both of us chipped in $100 and we were able to reach several thousand more supporters. Please email us at fairplayoffs@gmail.com if you are interested in helping the cause out with a financial donation. Finally, please make sure to like us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/fairplayoffs/) and Twitter (twitter.com/fairplayoffs so you can stay up to date on all the latest developments. We truly appreciate your support! Sincerely, Chad Phillips & Chris Walrad Fair Playoff Board of Advisors
