Greetings All-- I want to emphasize that my critique yesterday of the NCTD Board excludes Del Mar. As it began drawing up plans for the fence this past spring, NCTD leadership intentionally kept Del Mar in the dark on it. This is deceptive, manipulative, and wrong. I would stress that Del Mar's NCTD board representatives, Council Members Terry Gaasterland and Dave Druker, have been vigorous advocates for Del Mar in opposing the fence. They are on it.
Virtually all members of the broad Del Mar community, including the tens of thousands of San Diego County residents that regularly visit and enjoy the Del Mar beach and bluffs, are unified on the issue of the fence. By working together, we can defeat this terrible idea and get to a common sense, win-win solution. One such solution could be a collaborative public awareness campaign highlighting the dangers of the train.
