Asha Sharma (CEO of Xbox) and the Xbox Leadership Team.

Recently, Microsoft announced a drastic 15-hour monthly limit for Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud). Following widespread backlash, they released a statement claiming that "current subscriptions will not be affected." This is not good news; it is a trap and a clear case of anti-consumer corporate malpractice.

In reality, this policy of "respecting" current users means that if any player misses a single month of payment due to a financial emergency or budget constraints, they will lose their unlimited status forever. Upon renewing, they will be treated as a new customer and suffocated by the 15-hour limit. Essentially, Xbox is using the fear of losing a functional service to force us into maintaining an uninterrupted subscription, month after month.

This measure disproportionately affects a massive part of the gaming community who, due to global hardware accessibility issues and the incredibly high costs of component repair and replacement (like internal storage drives), rely 100% on cloud gaming to stay connected to the ecosystem. Many players have made significant investments to upgrade their home networks, such as installing high-speed fiber optic internet, solely to have the stability needed to enjoy this service. To cut their access to barely 30 minutes a day is a insult to this collective effort.

It is incredibly unfair that after this commitment and investment, Game Pass Ultimate paying subscribers are limited to playing such a trivial amount, or coerced into continuous payment with no right to temporarily cancel without severe, permanent penalties. Xbox should not stoop to such tactics.

We demand that Asha Sharma and the Xbox Game Pass team:

1. Remove the 15-hour restriction for all Game Pass Ultimate paying subscribers, and for the lower-end versions, reconsider a better balance of price and availability.

2. Stop these abusive retention policies that permanently punish players who need to pause their subscription for financial reasons.

3. Look for more consumer-friendly alternatives, such as implementing ads on lower or free tiers, instead of ruining the premium service we pay for.
