Microsoft Copilot's New Update Had Reportedly Overhauled Almost Everything in the Homepage
The Issue
Microsoft Copilot is once an informative and generative AI chatbot developed by Microsoft and released in February 7, 2023 as a replacement of discontinued Cortana. The service was introduced under the name Bing Chat for Microsoft Bing and Edge, before that time being renamed to Microsoft Copilot on September 21. Now peoples worldwide are confused or unhappy with this new update because recently Copilot continues to change or remove features periodically, making this interface way simplified than ever, and it's like if GPT-4o was integrated into Microsoft Copilot. That's when on around September 2024 an unforeseen major problem occurred of which the lacking of features and interface totally sucks for everyone.
Copilot had unexpectedly removed the "More Creative" and "More Precise" modes on the homepage which leaves only the "More Balanced" mode for conversation topics, before that time Copilot had removed or changed most of the features such as a tone selector for users to select their tones for Copilot's responses; if a user want Copilot to respond in a specific tone, they can do so on the prompt; notebook, in which users iterate and refine their prompts over multiple turns and send as much info; now users can do so over multiple turns in the prompt without as much info; compose in Microsoft Edge for users to draft content in different tones, formats, and lengths; without this they can edit text using Rewrite; and the dedicated copilot button in the Microsoft Edge mobile application, whereas it's recommend that users with Microsoft Entra accounts use the Microsoft 365 mobile application to access Microsoft Copilot for work or education; as four mentioned in FAQ, as well as the background now a new homepage—designed to be warm and inviting—instead of the original format. The only reason why is that because to create a more intuitive and simplified user experience in Copilot, which I don't know about it.
Furthermore, Copilot had also respond low-quality and probably informal answers when entered the prompt, in addition to not understanding complex topics; made it difficult to create a new topic, buying Copilot Pro from the homepage (perhaps we should buy it from its website), and accessing chat history which is impossible to rename or delete a topic. So, this new update again totally sucks because it overhauls almost everything in the Copilot's homepage, including the new background and the prompt. But what I like was the conversation limit which is no longer limited to 30 responses for logged-in users, so I'm very excited to ask Copilot for longer or infinite responses.
Anyways, we need to bring back these features to Microsoft Copilot that we recently love, as well with the original format instead of this new background. This includes the More Creative and More Precise modes in the homescreen; the more detailed, high-quality and formal responses instead of just simplified answers; and the ability to understand complex topics, tone selector, notebook, composer, the dedicated Copilot button in the Microsoft Edge mobile application, chat history sidebar for renaming or delete topics, and side decision such as designer, regular (More Creative, More Balanced, and More Precise), vacation planning, and cooking. We want the old one pre-March 2024 back so to have lots of particular features in the homepage and ask Copilot accurately.
Moreover, I just want to suggest the new Regenerate button in Microsoft Copilot website since there isn't one, unlike other chatbots they do, which allows to regenerate its responses in the same topic or conversation you've prompted; and priority to newer features will no longer exclusive to Copilot Pro version and be useful on the freemium model for logged-in users, whereas Copilot Pro would be discontinued and migrated with Microsoft 365 Premium.
Now, let's make Microsoft Copilot again an informative and generative AI chatbot, and the ability to cite sources, create poems, generate songs & musics, use numerous languages and dialects, and such more. :)
