Hi, please excuse me for the long messages but something needs to be done. 
 The crisis we have in Ireland at the moment with poor defenceless dogs being dumped it’s time to take a stand as our government clearly don’t care. 
During Covid, dogs and pups became like fashion accessories. Now alot of them, along with Non Covid accessory dogs are being dumped. As people don’t have time for them or some pathetic reason. 

Our rescue centres, who rely on donations only and are not government funded are heaving to the point they cannot take anymore in but yet hundreds are still being surrendered or dumped. Including mothers with pups found in boxes, alone cold and with no food or water. We should be Ashamed cause i certainly am. There are hundreds of centres around the country who are at full capacity and are heartbroken they cannot take them in or afford to feed what dogs they have, that should give you some indication of crisis we are in. People/ hero’s giving their time for free and not even being acknowledged for it.

I am asking for one simple thing, as the pups are getting their injections the MUST be also microchipped to the owner of the mother of the pups. The details will be updated only when the pup/pups have been sold or given away.ID and proof of address must be shown not kept due to data protection laws.
This microchip must be done by the vet looking after the mother and Pups and  then updated by owner of the mother of the pups  in the presence of whoever is selling them or giving them away. This only costs €15/€20 so it’s not going to break your bank. And the buyer must show the seller ID and pre of of address as stated before. This is very important.. If the pups do not have the correct papers showing 6 wks injectors and the proof or microchip registration  you should not buy the dog/pup and report the seller for not looking after the pups correctly.

As for puppy farms and breeders, registered or not .. the same will apply to you. You make a living out of this and are glad to take the money, but not the responsibility. It’s time your business was shaken up and you should be paying tax like every other business in this country along with being checked regularly without notice that the mothers and pups along with any dog they own are being kept in suitable conditions. They must also keep records and follow the guidelines set out by Revenue the same as any other business. 

I’m heartbroken looking at dogs being dumped everyday and sometimes when they find the owner the rescuers are told the dog is no longer wanted.   
We also still have the Christmas period to go through which will no doubt there’ll be more unwanted souls. 

I am meeting a TD in January and I need as many signatures as possible so please, please help me. Sign and pass on as much as possible and if you have any ideas or think I could approach parts differently please let me know. I want to highlight the animal crisis in this country and the fact that there is no government funding allocated to rescue centres. 

Just remember dogs are good enough to help the blind, work as service dogs, work along side the gardaí, search for missing people and as cadaver dogs. Never mind working with the army. You may come crying for one someday.

It is not much to ask for a pup or dog to be microchipped. I will also be bringing up the fact there is no government funding allocated to rescue centres so please help me by signing this petition.
