The procedure of removing the claws of an animal is extremely cruel and not necessary, and to hold a material object over the health and wellness of a living being is not humane. There are so many humane ways to stop a cat from "destroying" your material object. It can cause a lot of pain and behavioral issues with the animal and many cats are dumped at shelters due to behavioral issues that occur after the removal of the knuckle. The United States is one of the few countries in the world that allows this barbaric act. NJ, NY, & CA are all working on making it illegal, lets make MI another state on the list that is against this painful procedure that ruins a living being. Remember, just because an animal does not cry out in pain does not mean they are not in pain, animals are programmed to suffer in peace. There are many other humane alternatives to declawing (deknuckling).
