After years of incorrect custody calculations, we finally have a real victory to share: Michael has been held in maximum custody for years, even though his points never supported that level. If calculated correctly, he would have been in a safer facility with more programs, more privileges, and more connection to his family.

We pushed his case all the way to Grand Prairie, Texas, where the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ designation center is located. When they reviewed his file, the immediate question was:
“Why is he in max custody?”

Michael shared that his counselor at USP Canaan is one of the few staff members he’s met who still shows fairness and empathy. We are grateful for his integrity and for the support he provided during this process.

The warden approved the custody change — and today, we received confirmation that Michael is officially in transit, finally moving toward a facility closer to his family for the first time in many years.

This is not his release, and this is not the end of the fight. But it is the most progress we’ve seen in a long time.

Please continue to share, sign, and speak up.
Your support is the reason change is happening.
