I wanted to send a quick update to keep you in the loop about SB139. As a reminder, SB139 is a bill that was adopted by the state of DE to mandate infertility coverage. A group of advocates are working to have that bill apply to state employees, who are currently exempt from the bills coverage.

Last summer and into the fall, the SEBC (State Employee Benefits Committee) discussed SB139 extensively. For the last 2 months of 2018, SB139 was not on the SEBC meeting agenda because they had presented a bunch of info at the prior meetings and needed time to update it as new information about costs and revenue came in.

SB139 is back on the agenda for January 14, although we only expect a brief discussion at this meeting. A vote will not happen this month, but we are hopeful that it will happen soon and that the vote will be in our favor.
