It is our belief that it is past time to change the names of Stonewall Jackson And Robert E. Lee Elementary Schools in Dallas, Texas.

"Stonewall" Jackson and Robert E. Lee were Confederate generals during the American Civil War.  Their names bring back memories of a horrible time in our country's history.

Approximately 31% of children in DISD are African American.  We feel that it is stressful and inhumane for these children to attend a public school named in honor of those who fought to keep their ancestors enslaved.

"A great nation does not hide its history.  It faces its flaws and corrects them." - President George W. Bush

It is time.

If not now, then when?  If not where we educate and mold young minds, then where should we start?
