Kettering Road (Northampton) Petition against Lidl (Planning Application N/2020/1421)
The Issue
Lidls have applied for planning permission to build a supermarket on the Kettering Road.
A planning application has been made to build a Lidl's supermarket on the Kettering Road on the Autobarn site opposite the Lumbertubs Pub area.
This is a residential area and is unwanted. It would cause traffic congestion in the area. The planning application can be found on the link below.
If you are in support of stopping this from going ahead please sign this petition or share it with people within the local communities that will be directly impacted by this.
www.planning@northampton.gov.uk The reference is: Planning Application N/2020/1421 - Valid From 06/11/2020. We only have till 2nd December to comment.
Many local residents have not had a card from Lidl posted through their letterbox.
Therefore there is no fair representation of the local residents and they will not have the opportunity for their views to be heard.
These are some of the key points that will impact on this area if this development goes ahead:
- Cause further congestion in an area already congested
- Impact on local businesses e.g. small family run corner shops
- Late night disturbance to neighbours and deliveries from articulated lorries
- Area already struggling with the traffic converging from all directions
- Roads impacted with further traffic for commuters and school runs
- Rely on a single track road which is already struggling with the capacity that is being demanded of it.
- Right next to a major junction of Kettering Road, Booth Lane, Lumbertubs Lane, Booth Rise and Boughton Green Road.
- Increased probability of vermin due to waste disposal
- Already have a Lidl less than 2 miles away why would we need another one?
- Area is surrounded with other super market chains - Morrisons, Tescos, Aldi and Lidl.
- The Morrison's site has recently been to developed and expanded with a McDonalds and Starbucks which draws extra traffic into the area.
- Creating more traffic via the cut through from Kettering Road/Churchill Avenue to Keswick Drive/Booth Lane which is already like a rat run with cars speeding through it.
- Booth Lane/Kettering Road junction can't cope at present in peak traffic times.
The solution is to chose a site that is not in a residential area and which would have better access.
