There are two wells that really concern me .
One in my front yard that's dated 1911.
And one up the street in my nabors back yard that looks really old.
Wvdep has left us empty on them. the gass that is in these wells are orderless. We as citizen don't have the tools to check and see if they are leaking. I can state the 1911 well. when it rains the ground around it has water bubbles heavy. That leads me to believe it's leaking. This is disgusting they would not take this seriously and leave us in these dangerous health conditions. The well in the photo is just above the area of creek that has the red substance pushing out of the ground. There is also a cave that the creek runs into just below it. All these issues are located above American water intake. If wvdep don't have the capability to do the advance testing on these gas wells and don't know what's coming out of them. How can they say it's not in our water stream. My property also has two water wells on it . My nabors has one that they reported a gas explosion 20 years ago. The well that's being closed in now has a very good possibility it's been leaking sense 1978. With the health studies done seams leaks got more severe in 2018 forward. They have been working to bring a 8" under ground line up the main road to this area . There was mentioned of a pressure issues back in Dec 2021. I stopped and asked the workers what the line was for and they stated. It's something for the leaks? WV we have a problem on this mountain. I was told these old wells WV don't have records on before 1930. Was used to supply the plants on the kanawha River. I just want everyone to understand that these gases are orderless. The damage it does is not reversible. It might take 5 years or so before you start seeing symptoms. I was directly in these gases and didn't realize what was happening. Please take some time and do some research on toxic green house Gass. Not every well is toxic only about 5% of the wells in the Appalachian region are. We use this term natural gas . And it should be green house Gass. This is raw form gasses that has not been to processing plant. The gas in your home has been cleaned of these other impurities we are being exposed to. Citizens we need clear answers on all these wells Leaking on the mountain. Call you governor's office and demand answers on these toxic wells Leaking in Charleston. There has been enough pain and suffering. This is a new issue for the us in hand and we are just unfortunate to have the 5% toxic issues. I can't stress enough this is not natural gas .
