Apple Valley homeowners are demanding to have the basic right of having metal storage containers in their own backyards. 

Currently, Apple Valley has an antiquated law stating that homeowners cannot have a storage container in their backyard that is larger than 120sq/ft without a permit. And even with a permit one must dress the metal container with approved material. The issues we all have with the code is that (1) having a storage unit in your own property is a basic right, (2) the "approved materials" that should be added to cover the already-resistant metal are actually unsustainable for Apple Valley climate, and would require extensive and continuous re-investment, (3) the code penalty is not being applied consistently to everyone who "violates" this code. 

Let's make this fair and sustainable for everyone! Let's change this antiquated law!

We are demanding to change the code to allow:

Metal Storage Containers/ Cargo Containers for homeowners to use as a storage or building step up to 200 sq feet without a permit.
To eliminate the clause that asks for additional dress around the storage containers.
