Meta! Stop Censoring Iranian Opposition Contents
The Issue
We have credible reasons to believe that individuals affiliated with the Islamic Republic of Iran are employed at Meta and have access to internal tools, decision-making processes, and sensitive information.
One example is Hamidreza Vaezi Jozeh, the son of Mahmoud Vaezi, former Minister of Communications of the Islamic Republic and Chief of Staff to the President during Hassan Rouhani’s administration. Hamidreza Vaezi Jozeh currently holds a key position at Meta. In 2024, he was reportedly present during the Iranian presidential election process in Seattle, once again publicly demonstrating support for the Islamic regime.

In recent months, Meta has repeatedly removed my posts that expose the identities of individuals and families widely known within the Iranian diaspora as affiliates of the Islamic regime, including the Tarameshloo family and the Larijani families; names deeply connected to the regime’s power structure. These posts are removed almost immediately and systematically from my pages (@Mira.Nassiri & @MiraReports), despite being based on publicly available information and documented evidence.

At the same time, Meta has failed to take action against accounts based in the United States that publicly shared my residential address and issued direct threats against me, my husband, and my family. These posts remain active despite multiple reports and clear violations of Meta’s own safety and harassment policies.
Meta is not protecting my safety, nor the safety of my community. Instead, it is enabling those who intimidate and silence us. By selectively enforcing its policies, Meta is effectively assisting the Islamic Republic in suppressing voices of dissent outside Iran, voices that already face severe repression inside the country.
My posts are evidence-based and often reference legal procedures and cases in which I have been personally involved. Yet they are repeatedly censored, while threats and doxxing against me and my people are ignored.
This pattern demonstrates that Meta is silencing us on behalf of the Islamic regime.
Also, in what feels like a déjà vu experience, Meta has once again wrongfully disabled one of my Instagram accounts. Last year, after a grueling 8-month wait, Meta finally restored my both accounts to me, acknowledging their error and clarifying that my accounts did not violate any standards or community guidelines. Unfortunately, as of November 16th, 2025 I've been thrust back into the same distressing situation.
The disruption began when a user under the handle Out.Account1 maliciously tagged my account @Mira_Nassiri, threatening me with the message: “Say goodbye to your account.” Minutes later, my account was suspended. That same user mentioned my second account, @MiraReports, which was immediately disabled without any opportunity to appeal. After the third targeted mention of my main account @Mira.Nassiri, I blocked and reported the user.
My main account (@Mira.Nassiri) with 96.9K followers and 13 Million views in the past 30 days remains active, and through it I filed two advanced help requests with Meta. During one, I spoke directly with an agent and provided every detail required. Yet, after a full hour on the phone and hours of stress, Meta updated the support ticket stating that my accounts would remain disabled.
As an investigative journalist and Iranian-Canadian political activist who has spent years exposing the suppressive actions of the Islamic Republic, I find these decisions deeply unjust.
While countless political pages on Meta platforms freely post graphic content, threats, misinformation, and hate speech, my accounts, which follow community standards, are the ones being silenced?
These wrongful suspensions strip away a space I’ve built with care: my sources, my reputation, my connections, my archived work, and my memories. They also erode trust in platforms that claim to uphold fairness and transparency.
This repeated pattern, especially after Meta itself previously admitted fault; raises urgent questions about the reliability and integrity of Instagram’s enforcement systems. Users should not live under the constant threat of baseless or maliciously triggered suspensions.
I am calling on Mark Zuckerberg and Meta’s leadership to reinstate my account (@Mira_Nassiri) immediately, bring back my deleted posts on (@Mira.Nassiri) and to revise the processes that allow automated, unsupported, or weaponized reports to silence users.
Platforms must remain fair, consistent, and accountable. Users’ rights must be protected, not erased.
Your support matters. Please sign and share this petition to demand that Meta uphold the values of fairness and justice in their community guidelines.
Together, we can push for real accountability.
