Hi all,

This afternoon I was finally able to attend Merseytravel's Transport Committee to present the petition calling for the Bus Interchange on South Road to be turned into greener space. Earlier this year, 1137 residents had signed the petition and today was an opportunity to call on Merseytravel to take note of the conrrns and views of local residents and agree to take action.

I supplied the meeting with a document of photos of the site which also included an anonimised sheet of all of the comments residents made when signing the petition. 

In response,  the Labour Party Chair of the meeting read out a pre-prepared response that I attach.

The statement openly admits that the whole design of the bus interchange was to make it as low maintenance as possible. It's an admission to the community of Waterloo/Seaforth/Crosby that developing a pleasant green functional space, pleasing to the eye and contributing positively towards South Road being a space to enjoy and be proud of,  wasn't a priority at the time the Bus Station was redeveloped or ever since.

The statement does make a limited commitment to the Bus Interchange being a part of a future review of site assets to understand biodiversity opportunities.

In the meantime, you can be assured this issue will continue to be monitored and updates requested from Merseytravel by myself. We can't let this drop.
