The story ended. The prophecy did not!

 

To the creators, producers and rights holders of Merlin,

 

My name is Iniubong Udoma, the Thinking Man.

More than a decade has passed since Merlin reached its conclusion. We are not asking you to bring Merlin back because we believe the series was incomplete. We are not asking for a remake. We are not asking you to rewrite Camlann. And we are certainly not asking you to undo the ending that gave the series its emotional power.

 

We are asking you to look at the future that the ending itself promised: 

• Arthur Pendragon was the Once and Future King.
• Merlin was left waiting.
• And Albion was left waiting for the moment when its need would become greatest.

That was not a mistake. That was not an unfinished script. That was prophecy.

 

And now, more than a decade later, something remarkable has happened:

• Time itself has become part of the story.
• The actors have grown older.
• The audience has grown older.
• The world has moved forward.
• And the characters we left behind can, within the story, have experienced years of waiting too.

 

So perhaps we should not attempt to recreate the Merlin of 2012. Perhaps we should return to the Albion we remember - older, changed, but still recognisably home.
