As a passionate and dedicated student who is about to enter the University of South Florida, my lifelong love for volleyball drives me to initiate this petition. I have dreamt of playing at the Division 1 level since I first hit a volleyball, and having the chance to continue that journey at my chosen university would mean the world to me.

However, the University of South Florida currently does not have a men's volleyball or beach volleyball team. This is despite volleyball being the 5th most popular sport in U.S. colleges, according to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The benefits of sports in a university setting extend beyond the aspect of competitive play. It has been shown to improve student engagement, health, and overall university experience.

This would also be GREAT for the university’s school spirit, as it gives other options for competitive sports, and USF is known for lack of school spirit. The only cost-wise USF would have to worry about is the coach pay, because the facilities are ready for use.

Therefore, we call upon the University of South Florida and the relevant bodies involved to consider the establishment of a men's volleyball team. This is not merely for the benefit of myself and other prospective players but also for the entire university community that stands to grow and reap the benefits of such an endeavor.
