Last week, Bill C-84 passed unanimously in the House of Commons. It now moves onto the Senate for final approval. Bill C-84 closes the loopholes around the crime of bestiality and strengthens animal fighting provisions. Any contact, for a sexual purpose, with an animal is now a criminal offence, and convicted offenders are placed on the sex offenders list and may be subjected to a ban on owning, having the custody or control of or residing in the same premises as an animal. This is a substantial improvement in the law, and hopefully it passes the Senate without delay. I will update you after that vote. I'm not sure when it's expected to take place.
