The wildfires in BC have more than likely had a devastating effect on wildlife, but the impact cannot even be known yet because many of the fires are still burning. Hunting season begins on September 1. The number of animals who have managed to survive the fires is completely unknown, and those who have survived have suffered unimaginable distress as a result of these fires. Please ask the government of British Columbia to place an immediate moratorium on hunting and trapping in wildfire areas this fall in order that the health of the wildlife populations that live there can be determined before hunting and trapping is permitted again.
