Dear friends, In consultation with Member of Parliament Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, we would like to gather signatures on a paper petition containing identical wording to Petition e-718 (asking the Minister of Justice to immediately undertake a review of the animal cruelty sections in the Criminal Code as she agreed to do after Bill C-246 was defeated). Paper petitions containing a minimum of 25 signatures may be presented in the House of Commons anytime, and doing so will allow us to get more exposure for the petition in the House of Commons prior to the deadline for signing the online electronic version (May 10, 2017), which cannot be presented in the House until after that deadline. NOTE: Any Canadian resident or citizen is permitted to sign BOTH a paper petition and the e-petition. Please download the petition from our Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/CdnAnimalWelfarePetitionE718/) or go to the following web link (https://goo.gl/Yyc1vf), gather as many signatures as you can (print several pages and take them to stores that sell pet products, veterinary offices, shopping malls, sporting events, and wherever else you may quickly gather signatures), and mail** them to MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith's office in Ottawa (noted on the bottom of the petition). If you can't gather 25 signatures, get what you can and mail them in.
