In the UK when so many pockets are being squeezed and an economic crisis is battering the country, the Department of Work and Pensions is sanctioning over 100,000 people, and 125,000 people have been told they need to pay back £500m in Universal Credit payments wrongly issued during the pandemic. This is not security.

Make UBI a vote winner, six reasons to vote for UBI
1. A basic income would give us all regular, predictable, secure income, Universal Basic Income would give the economy a vital boost, kick-starting growth. It is the simple answer to bring our society back from the brink of total economic crisis.
2. Evidence shows that basic income does not reduce willingness to work and increases health and entrepreneurship throughout society.
3.A basic income would level the playing field for talented, hard-working people who strive to get ahead, but can’t take the risk of taking time out. This is peace of mind for working people. 
4.Current welfare system disincentives work, trapping people in poverty, not just economically, but psychologically too. Counter-intuitively, evidence suggests that, where Universal Basic Income is introduced, these disincentives to work are removed. 
5.The UK welfare system is long overdue for a radical overhaul. Universal Credit was supposed to replace complicated schemes,but has been extremely inefficient. UBI leads to a slimmer, simpler state for us all to navigate
6.Given the UK’s wealth, we should not have the stress of worrying about meeting our basic needs. We should not have to worry that taking on short-term work will leave you unable to support yourself. A basic income secures you from the many unpredictable events in modern society.
