The pandemic is political and we have to be honest about it. 

How we respond to this crisis is a stress test for our values as a society and a state. It’s not just a matter of resources. It’s a matter of principles too. 

Today, a universal basic income would be an act of social solidarity and a sensible response to the unprecedented economic uncertainty we now face. The scheme would give everyone the capacity to rebuild their lives and recover from this moment.

We’re proud to have worked cross-party with 110 MPs and peers to call on the Chancellor to introduce a Recovery Universal Basic Income. 

The flame is lit in Parliament but we cannot win this without the support of more MPs.
