President Ryan's Official Response and CEO Pamela Sutton-Wallace Leaving UVA

As of last night, President Ryan responded to the Washington Post story. His response can be found on Facebook. I am sure other outlets are reporting his response as well. A statement to President Ryan from myself was released today. I showed appreciation of the efforts that are being made. However, I stated that this issue should have fully been addressed sooner. I also expressed understanding that President Ryan is still relatively new to his position. The measures in which will address medical holds will be released later this week. I am talking a wait and see approach for now. It is my hope UVA will do the right thing.

I urged President Ryan to speak directly with those who were impacted by medical holds. To let those who were impacted to be a part of the solution. As of the writing of this post, leadership at UVA and UVA health System have not reached out to us. Finally, I challenged Ryan to lead the conversation on healthcare in the United States. To use this discussion as an opportunity.

As of the writing of this post, Governor Northam has not commented on the Washington Post story. Neither has CEO Pamela Sutton-Wallace. I have to say that I am disappointed in the lack of response.

CEO Pamela Sutton-Wallace will be stepping down from her position according to NBC 29 in November. However, it is not because of the Washington Post story according to President Ryan. Many have been calling for CEO Pamela Sutton-Wallace to step down since the Washington Post story broke.

It is important now more than ever that we hold President Ryan and CEO Pamela Sutton-Wallace accountable. Thank you for your support!
