UVA Medical Center's Improper Treatment of Nacy

Many of you have commented that Nacy's degree would help in terms of making payments easier. While we agree with you, there is a detail that I need to share with you. Nacy originally sought out treatment because of his Lupus and mysterious chest pains. Automatically, the UVA Medical Center ran a STD test, which was negative. They also ran an EKG, which proved that his heart was not the problem. Finally, they tested his white blood cell count, which was low. This is something we already knew and is completely normal for those with Lupus. All of these useless tests that UVA ran yielded predictable results. Therefore, Nacy objected to these tests being ran to begin with. However, the doctors ran these tests anyways. To top off everything, the Medical Center told Nacy that his sickness was in his head. They literally gave him several cups of water and sent him home without a solution to his condition. It would be one thing if UVA Medical Center helped make Nacy well and he had to pay bills as a result of getting proper treatment. It is quite another when you are paying for bills to a hospital that did absolutely nothing to help Nacy. Plus, a medical hold was placed after receiving improper care. This ensures that the hospital will get their money for improper care and stops Nacy from his academic goals. It was Martha Jefferson Hospital who discovered that 95% of his gallbladder was diseased. Nacy continuously stated that his insurance could not cover the cost of his care at UVA. The Medical Center insisted that financial services would help with the cost and there would not be much left. We did received financial help through UVA, but the cost is still too great for us to pay. $5 is all I am asking from each supporter. It might not seem like a lot, but the us it means the world.
