"No person should be penalized for an illness that they have no control over."

We totally agree with you Jo! This hold has been an ongoing punishment for Nacy. It has been something that he is carrying in addition to his Lupus. It is always present when he wakes up to go to work. It is with him when he goes to sleep.
Nacy is being prevented from doing what he would like to do, which is teach. Every work day is a struggle because his heart is somewhere else. Yet, Nacy as always has to fight against his Lupus and physically demanding jobs in an attempt to secure a better future for himself. But, why should Nacy have to fight against this hold? Fighting Lupus is hard enough without adding unnecessary stress.
Lupus has been known to cause those impacted by the disease to die young. I do not know how much time Nacy has got left with me, but I want him to spend it doing what makes him happy in life. I want Nacy to be able to live his life to the fullest.
In order for Nacy to finish his final two classes at UVA, we still need to raise $7,205 by August 1’st. This includes the cost of his classes as well as his medical bills.
$5 is all it takes to make a difference. If every supporter gave this amount, Nacy will be able to win his battle against his own medical hold. What a powerful message this would be to UVA in addition to this petition! Imagine the spark of hope you are igniting when someone impacted by medical holds sees that you care enough to help Nacy. That you are so outraged that you are working to secure a better tomorrow for future UVA students by doing everything in your power to help.
Share this petition with others. Donate and encourage others to donate to Nacy’s GoFundMe. Talk to everyone you know about how you feel about UVA’s decision to place medical holds on their students.
In terms of social media, please use the hashtag #FreeNacy when talking about this cause. We want to share Nacy's story to anyone who will listen. Finally, please feel free to follow me on twitter: www.twitter.com/KeenShane
