On March 15, 2020, Charles Baker – Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, issued an order prohibiting gatherings of over 25 people. This order also prohibited on-premises consumption of food and drink at any restaurant, bar, or establishment that normally offers it.

Establishments are still able to continue offering food for take-out and delivery provided they follow the protocols of social distancing – staying 6 feet apart.

Unfortunately, this all still comes with extra costs for many restaurants, and bars are unable to produce any revenue at all. Regardless, at this time with little to no income for many people in and out of the restaurant, meal’s tax should be waived.

This will enable restaurants to provide food at a lower cost, as well as avoid being hit with a hefty meals tax bill in the upcoming days.
