Do the Right Thing!

Keep the Doors of UT MD Anderson Open to All individually insured Residents of Harris County, Texas

When open enrollment to buy health insurance begins on November 1, 2016, the residents of Harris County who purchase individual policies will learn they do not have a single option to purchase a policy with coverage for treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Once again, with no warning and what we can only assume was a brilliant move by the insurance lobby, hundreds of thousands of individually insured will have high premiums, few choices as to a carrier and no access at all to MD Anderson.

As Governor of this state we demand you ensure that every individually insured resident of the state has the exact same access as those insured by a group plan. As such, MD Anderson, a State owned institution, must be forced back to the table to create access.

We also believe that whatever plan you as Governor have access to, the individually insured pool should also be a part of. We pay your salary and that of every Legislator and employee of the State. Therefore, we believe you must work with Blue Cross Blue Shield Texas, your carrier to create equal access for the individually insured.
