As of March 10, McGill is now one of the last four major universities in the Northeast still business-as-usual, joining the rank of SUNY, CUNY and Concordia. All other major universities in the region have cancelled classes or announced plans to do so.

Universities from California to New York are joining a growing list of institutions that put the safety of their students and faculty before everything else: Harvard, MIT, NYU, Rutgers, Columbia, Princeton, Fordham, Duke, Cornell...UCLA, UCSD, USC, UC Berkeley, Stanford, OSU, Amherst, Middlebury...UPenn...Purdue...

The media have lost track as to how many universities are announcing campus closure, because this epidemic(pandemic) is happening as-we-speak, and institutions must make swift decisions (and they are).

BUT, the point being, our McGill University, is still not responsive to any of this

Our McGill is still there "monitoring the situation" "The risk remains low"

University of Pennsylvania posted in their announcement that "It is absolutely clear that we, along with all other universities, have a responsibility to institute new mitigation practices of social distancing to help stem that spread."

Cancelling in-person instruction is not only a matter of public health, it is also a social obligation for McGill as an institution.

Wake Up, McGill.

Get Ready.
