This petition, initiated by the Kunsill Studenti MCAST (KSM), seeks to address the long-standing issues caused by the Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) directives and the continued delays in resolving the disputes between MCAST management and the union. Since the onset of these issues in 2020, students have experienced significant disruptions to their education, from withheld exam results to unclear communication regarding their academic progress. This situation has not only caused stress and confusion among students but has also undermined the quality of education at MCAST.

In our Official Statement, we express our deep frustration and disappointment over the lack of progress in resolving these conflicts. We urge the MUT to be more responsive and transparent with the student community, as many of the current directives appear to prioritize administrative matters over the well-being and academic success of students. Additionally, we call on MCAST management and the government, particularly Minister Clifton Grima, to engage in swift and meaningful negotiations with the MUT to reach a fair resolution.

Through this petition, we aim to amplify the voices of the student community and urge all stakeholders to prioritize the needs of students. We are advocating for:

• The immediate resolution of the collective agreement disputes that have dragged on for years.
  
  
• Clear and consistent communication from both the MUT and MCAST management regarding any decisions or actions that directly impact students.
  
  
• Accountability from MCAST leadership for the institution's failure to address these issues in a timely manner.
  
  The goal of this petition is to push for changes that will restore stability to MCAST and ensure that the quality of education is no longer compromised. By gathering support from students, parents, and other members of the community, we hope to bring attention to the detrimental effects these disputes are having on the student body and demand that both MCAST and MUT work together to prioritize students’ education above all else.

We strongly believe that MCAST should be an institution that fosters academic excellence and student success. However, as it stands, it has become a failing institution that is compromising the future of its students due to ongoing conflicts. Through this petition, we aim to create pressure for immediate action and reforms.
