Petition updateBellingham/Whatcom County Publicly Owned Fiber Optic NetworkSome News From Michael Lilliquist

BroadbandUSA released the following document that helps enable local governments to provide better broadband support for their communities. I shared this guide with our local government and Michael Lilliquist responded to say that he is not sure where the research is in our government's work queue, but will let me know when he knows. So it's not great news, but it's not bad either. Stalling, has unfortunately, been the name of the game in relation to this, but at least it might be on their radar now. In short, the federal government really wants a better infrastructure, and so does the state, but everyone gets very quiet when it comes to funding it. That's where organizations like BroadbandUSA come in. Again, it's not even expensive to do when compared with many other projects, clients can be hooked up as its installed, and it will improve our quality of life. So it's not risky to do. It's just time to do it. Michael is still the only member of our local government that has not been entirely trying to ignore this. This, sadly, also includes our Whatcom County government at this point.
