Hooray, we have over 200 supporters. In general just about everyone I talked to thinks this is a great idea. In fact, only one person did not and their reasons had nothing to do with technology. Still, I want to dispel the rumors that this is a first world problem. People everywhere need good broadband access to compete in the future and they need that access to come with choice so they can hold their providers accountable if need be. Here is a WSJ article about how Cuba has and is putting in fiber, including a US owned run (costing $31 million) to Guantanamo Bay. How can fiber in Guantanamo Bay be a higher priority than in our own cities like Bellingham? Our cost wouldn't be near the cost of this and would be way more beneficial.
