An Honorary Street Designation in Tribute to Stevie Wonder

An Honorary Street Designation in Tribute to Stevie Wonder
The Issue
Mayor James T. Butts, I, and other residents, businesspersons, and stakeholders in the city of Inglewood, call on you to name an honorary street designation in the name of Stevie Wonder. Stevie is a globally recognized musical icon, social activist, humanitarian, and businessperson. Stevie's radio station, KJLH, has played a major role for decades in enriching the social and economic life in Inglewood as well as engaging persons in Inglewood and beyond in major community uplift actions.
Stevie was a major force behind the creation of the national holiday for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Barack Obama.
The designation of public space in Inglewood in his name would be the crowning culmination in recognition of a Stevie's long standing commitment and dedication to public service. A service that has been so much a part of Inglewood.
