Dear Petition Supporters,

This past Saturday Don't Shoot Portland hosted a video booth at which scores of Portlanders of a wide range of ages, genders, and races, testified about how they felt about the policing of homeless in Portland.  This video will be edited and presented to City Hall, along with our petition and citizen comments in early October.  Shout out to Teressa Raiford who made this happen. Please reach out to your friends and neighbors and ask them to sign along with the other 3300 + Portlanders.

Below, I attach a report by Kaia Sand about four Street Roots vendors who died recently.  In 2016, the latest year for which we have data, eighty people died on the streets of Portland.  Their average age was 49.  Most of these deaths could have been avoided if we spent as much on helping the homeless as we do on incarcerating them.

We can do better.
