#NoSharkCircus in #Germany - Update #1
Jul 6, 2017 — Dear supporters of our petition,
Thanks to your voice and the voices of many others raised through various petitions and actions, an official citizens' initiative ("Buergerbegehren") against the planned shark aquarium has now been started. This initiative can only be signed by citizens of Pfungstadt. Its goal is to collect more than 1930 signatures by early August, which would then lead to an official referendum about the construction of the aquarium. If you have friends or relatives who are citizens of Pfungstadt, please inform them about the citizen's initiative (http://www.airzwo.com/Sharks/), tell them why you are against displaying captive animals in a small enclosure for human entertainment, and make them aware that the initiative can only turn into a referendum if almost 2000 signatures are reached in the coming weeks!
It was great to see that several other NGOs and dedicated people started petitions and actions. Please consider also supporting the other petitions, like those of Ocean Care (https://www.oceancare.org/en/topical/petitions/shark-aquarium/) and Pro Wildlife (https://www.prowildlife.de/petition/kein-hai-gefaengnis-in-pfungstadt/).
Together we can be a strong voice - our protest has already been recognized well beyond the area of Pfungstadt!
